2024 offers to open up a new level of realism and innovation in sketchup interface. As well as updates that increase productivity.

In the latest version of SketchUp 2024, you will discover realistic options for creating an image. Now you can refine your models by adding a depth shading feel. This will help you not to jump between different software equipment to meet the need for conceptual visualization.

SketchUp 2024 includes performance updates to increase productivity, from a new graphical engine to simpler ways to share ideas with colleagues or customers. All of these amazing visualization, collaboration, and performance features reflect the SketchUp team’s years inviting you to explore your creativity like never before.

Share SketchUp images with confidence

Add visual emphasis and perceived depth at the edges of the model with the new Styles setting.

Environment Occlusion
This new feature can be applied to stylized images. It’s available in desktop SketchUp, SketchUp, and LayOut for iPad tablets. The release of Ambient Occlusion is one of sketchup’s most significant visual improvements to date and an important milestone in its development path, allowing you to create attractive images.

“Ambient Occlusion helps the model gain realism, the sketchy image disappears. Previously, before presenting my model, I always had to consider presenting it in another program. Now I don’t have to worry about it anymore – 95% of what we need to convey is boldly prepared using only SketchUp.
VDC Director (Beta Tester)

Styles that complement your vision
We know that you need unique visual style options that match your individual and customer’s aesthetic preferences. Ambient Occlusion helps you find a visual balance between too simple and too realistic, so you can add aesthetic accents to your 3D model without changing the specifics of the material.

Create and save SketchUp styles with your preferred environment occlusion settings and freely share the personalized styles you’ve created with your project team so everyone can work and see your vision from the same angle!

Ambient Occlusion is one of the most exciting features in recent years! This afternoon’s work, was a real game thanks to SketchUp. Most of my models are achromatic, so they are popular, especially in architectural interiors.”
Joe Calvin, Senior Architect (Beta Tester)

Expand your 2D documentation
In addition to colors, materials, and other styling elements, SketchUp has added this tool to all of this to Layout, which will help you achieve greater depth and depth of 2D drawings. LayOut supports ambient occlusion styles, so you can easily enable and disable them when creating 2D drawings. When you turn on environment occlusion on SketchUp scenes that you use in LayOut, the visuals will automatically update throughout the layout file, so there’s no need to worry about it anymore.

Advanced visualization workflows at your fingertips
SketchUp not only improved visual results, but also made complex rendering and animation processes more accessible than ever before. The improved import and export features of USDZ and glTF files allow for a smooth transition between SketchUp and other design standard formats. Use these files in real-time apps like NVIDIA Omniverse or Epic Games’ Twinmotion to create animations and enhance the Mixed Reality (XR) viewing experience for your future projects!

“SketchUp’s improved USDZ compatibility demonstrates our continued commitment to fulfilling our mission of the AOUSD and USD standard. As an active member of AOUSD, I believe we can open up greater interaction between the industry’s tools and ensure a more reliable 3D visualization and delivery workflow for our customers.

Scan-to-design

Use Scan-to-Design [LABS] to efficiently assemble the context of the environment and create the conditions for live design.

Scan, create, and collaborate in a single app

Easily capture detailed design conditions and instantly convert scanned material into 3D models with your iPad with the new SketchUp Labs feature. Thanks to Canvas, Apple, and Trimble’s cutting-edge technology, Scan-to-Design [labs] captures spaces better than other methods, such as reference photos, and can save you extra measurements/drill-downs to spot details that you might not notice right away without the scan-to-design feature.

Unlike other scanning solutions that may take several days to create a 3D model or require additional tools to import, scanning to design [Labs] gives you the option to scan, create a model, and start creating SketchUp in seconds.

Generation of smart models

SketchUp turns your scan data into a clean, organized geometry that you can work with right away. This means that you can spend less time cleaning up your scan data and more time studying ideas in 3D.

Customize 3D outputs

Each project is unique, so we offer several options for scanning and creating the perfect 3D model. Scan-to-Design offers different types of geometry, grids, and planes for different workflows. You can decide whether the texture of a geometric photo should be arranged or not, and the models are pre-skillfully arranged so that you can switch the outputs according to your instantaneous needs. Once you start a project on your iPad, you can share it on Trimble Connect and further develop your ideas in SketchUp desktop and web applications anywhere in the world.

Share your 3D model with anyone, anytime, anywhere in the world

Whether you are in the initial stage of the design or have reached an important stage of the project, we understand how important it is to inform all stakeholders. SketchUp’s Shortcut Sharing feature was extremely popular in the Browser version and SketchUp for iPad tablets, so Trimble also made it available in the desktop version as well. Instead of exporting disposable images or wasting time documenting, formatting, and exporting project progress, simply share a single link and avoid additional irrational steps along with SketchUp 2024.

The link may show the entire model of your choice, or only specific scenes, and of course they can be viewed without a SketchUp subscription. An unlimited number of people can access the model you are viewing, in any web browser. Turn file visibility on and off for all viewers directly in your SketchUp account.

Improvements optimize every stage of design

Both new users and long-time SketchUp experts are eager to see the 2024 version. Achieve uninterrupted creative flow, become faster, smoother, and more accurate with sketchup’s new assistive tools.

  • The new graphics engine provides a more expeditious, more responsive sketchup fukicality to fast actions. Tests with customer models showed an average eight-fold increase in the number of frames per second. This means that when browsing, sliding and flying, SketchUpe models will feel much easier and faster than before. Help Center article – more information.

  • The new draft mode saves processing power, so you can efficiently navigate through active models, and if necessary, export high-resolution documents without overloading your computer’s resources.

  • Major modeling updates include improved
features and outputs of the Move tool to reduce visual noise and simplify the daily workflow without overloading it.

  • Provide accurate BIM documentation and improve software interaction with IFC import and export improvements. SketchUp data can now be more accurately mapped to ifc class attributes; new geometry thesellation can be used to create optimized geometry and lightweight IFC files; users can now sequentially export data from advanced attributes and dynamic components. Import files with special characters and save the origin of the drawing in a predictable way. Help Center article – more information.

  • Enjoy a more accurate location data feature and simplified import in Add location, increase your confidence in SketchUp for real-world data transfer to SketchUp.
